NBT Bank to Expand Rochester Presence with New Financial Center and Gates Banking Location
Rochester, NY (July 15, 2026) – NBT Bank has announced plans to expand its presence in Greater Rochester through a multi-phased investment that will establish the NBT Bank Rochester Financial Center and a new retail banking office in Gates. Together, the projects reflect NBT’s long-term commitment to the region, strengthening the bank’s presence in Monroe County while enhancing its ability to serve customers, businesses and communities throughout the market.
Located at 422 Henrietta Avenue within the CityGate development, the 16,060-square-foot Rochester Financial Center will serve as a regional hub for NBT employees. The facility will house a full-service retail banking office and bring together teams and expertise from across NBT, including commercial banking, business banking, home lending, wealth management, insurance and retirement plan services.
Among the businesses that will operate from NBT Bank’s Rochester Financial Center is EPIC Retirement Plan Services (EPIC RPS). Founded in Rochester in 1993, this benefits administration firm provides retirement plan administration and related services to retirement plan sponsors and financial intermediaries nationwide. Since joining the NBT family of companies in 2005, EPIC RPS has continued to enhance its capabilities and today serves more than 400,000 plan participants across 50 states.
“Rochester is an important growth market for NBT Bank, and this investment reflects our confidence in the community and its future,” said Tim Brown, NBT Bank Regional President. “Our Rochester Financial Center will strengthen our presence in the region, bring key teams together and support continued growth as we serve customers and community partners throughout Monroe County and the surrounding area.”
CityGate is a more than 60-acre mixed-use development at the intersection of Westfall Road and East Henrietta Road, featuring a growing mix of retail, dining, medical and office space. The project also supports the continued redevelopment of the historic Iola campus. The building that will house NBT’s Rochester Financial Center is one of the last remaining structures from the former campus and is being preserved through adaptive reuse, giving new purpose to a significant Rochester landmark while contributing to the area’s ongoing revitalization.
Construction of NBT’s Rochester Financial Center will be completed in phases, with initial occupancy anticipated in late 2027 and full project completion expected as early as 2028.
Complementing this investment, NBT has also signed a lease for a new 1,341-square-foot retail banking office at Gates Plaza on Spencerport Road. The location will feature a drive-thru and ATM, enhancing accessibility and convenience for customers in one of Monroe County’s growing commercial corridors. The office is expected to open in early 2027.
