Imposter Scam

We want to make you aware of recent fraud attempts involving malicious actors impersonating banks in your area.

What’s Happening:

Malicious actors are contacting customers and posing as bank employees. They claim there is an issue with an ACH transaction and request the customer’s cell phone number. Then, they send a link that leads to a fake login page set up to look like an official bank page. If the customer clicks on the link and enters credentials to the fake web page, unauthorized ACH transactions may be initiated from the customer’s deposit accounts.

Customers may also be asked to provide the One-Time Passcode (OTP) needed to complete ACH transactions either through the fake website or verbally on the phone. The criminals can use the OTP to facilitate further account fraud.

These scams can appear highly convincing, as criminals may already have specific information about your business, such as your company name or tax identification number.
