Report Fraud - Business Banking
If you suspect that your business may be the victim of fraud or cybercrime, take action immediately. Fast action may help limit the extent of any damage or loss. Click on the headings below for actions you can take in various potential fraud situations.
- Immediately cease all activity from computer systems that may be compromised.
- Immediately contact NBT Bank's Call Center at 833.628.4249 and your relationship manager so that your online access can be disabled.
- Change your online banking passwords and open new accounts if necessary
- Review all financial transactions and electronic authorizations on your account and ensure that no unauthorized requests have been made regarding your account (such as an address change).
- Maintain a written record of events: what happened, what was lost and what steps you took to report the incident to banks, authorities and others (such as affected customers). Be sure to record the date, time, telephone number, person spoken with, details discussed and any applicable reference numbers (such as report or case numbers).
- File a police report and provide the facts and circumstances surrounding the loss. Obtain a police report with the date, time, department, location and name of the officer filing the report. Having a police report will often facilitate dealing with insurance companies, banks and other organizations that may be affected by the fraudulent activity against you.
- Report the attempt through the Internet Crime Complaint Center (IC3).

- Your credit report contains inquiries from businesses you don't recognize

- Your credit card/ debit card is missing
- You get bills for accounts you never opened
- You receive a notice in the mail your information might have been compromised
- You receive an email letting you know information has been updated that you didn’t update
